Coming Home Series; Prince of Peace and Organization Bins

Updated: Feb 3

My husband likes to poke fun at my organization strategy. In our home, every item has its designated spot in a basket, bin, or tote. Whether it's our toothbrushes, summer sandals, or extra bedding, everything is stored in some type of container. Even my kitchen junk drawer is neatly organized with clear dividers.

It was about this time last year that my husband and I devoted our year to the Prince of Peace.  Understanding that our children learn to manage their emotions and maintain inner peace by observing our example, my husband and I strive to create a peaceful living environment.

This is where the storage bins and totes come in to play! My interior life is influenced by my exterior space. I struggle to maintain inner peace when my home is chaotic! When everything has its designated spot, tidying up the house becomes simple and I find it easy to regulate after a speed clean.

Matthew 5:9 says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God."

When I find myself emotionally reacting to my children instead of calmly responding to their needs, I know it's time to turn inward and assess why I am feeling overstimulated. More often than not, it is because my kitchen counters are cluttered or I am tripping on books while trying to brush my teeth.

During this season of life, I am often reciting (and sometimes internally screaming) my favorite catch phrase, "Come Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace." I know that keeping a perfectly tidy house is unrealistic with small children under foot. But keeping a bin or basket nearby for toys, books, and other frequently used items provides a quick solution for both the appearance of our living space and my peace of mind.

How is the Prince of Peace encouraging you to find inner tranquility? Which aspects of your life are causing inner conflict and overstimulation? Join me in inviting Our Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace, to compartmentalize the stressful areas in our life in order to tidy up and make room for the gifts He is offering to us this Christmas season!

Until next time, your sister in Christ,

Abby
